Park Facilities & Logistics

Yes, petrol and diesel are available at the three main camps: Okaukuejo, Halali, and Namutoni. It is highly recommended to refuel whenever possible, as pumps occasionally run dry or lose power.

The main camps have small shops selling basic items like water, snacks, canned goods, and firewood. For a proper grocery shop, visit Outjo or Tsumeb before you enter the park.

Accommodation is managed by Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR). Options include campsites, standard chalets, and luxury lodges like Dolomite or Onkoshi. Booking in advance is essential!

Main roads are gravel and manageable with a 2WD sedan, but a high-clearance SUV or 4x4 is better for comfort, visibility, and driving after rains.

Etosha is famous for Lion, Leopard, Elephant, and Rhino. However, there are no Buffalos in the park because the environment is too arid for them.

Yes. All main NWR camps offer guided morning, afternoon, and night drives in open-air safari vehicles with professional rangers.

Self-driving at night is strictly forbidden. You must be inside your camp by sunset. To see nocturnal wildlife, you must book a guided night drive with the camp office.

Yes, the entire park boundary is fenced to protect both the wildlife and the surrounding community farms.

Yes, all camps are fully fenced. This makes it safe to walk between your room/tent and the restaurant or waterhole at any time of night.

No. All lodges inside the park are state-run (NWR). Private luxury lodges are located just outside the park gates in private reserves.
